Happy New Year friends, we hope you had a restful break.
The New Year brings so many things, renewed ambition, hopes and an opportunity to do things differently. It’s one of the busiest times of year for us, as we meet friends, colleagues and community members seeking counsel for new ventures – and this year is no different.
Starting a business is hard work, it takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get things going especially at the beginning, but it has the potential to be the most rewarding financially and mentally.
Which is why we’ve pulled together 3 of our top tips to get you started:
Know your consumer
Whatever your business is, whether it’s photography or beauty, interior design or catering, you need to understand and define your product. The easiest and quickest way is to identify your competitors, what are they doing, how are they doing it and look at their pricing. Understanding these can help shape your business and give it the very best start possible.
Money, money, money!
Starting a business isn’t cheap, and often you need to cough up before the money comes in. Before you start, try and make sure you have three months’ income in the bank to pay for the basics, and set yourself a budget to get things going – this can even be from a start-up loan.
Getting the message out there
You’ve got the product ready – Yay! – but how are you going to get the message out there? Where are your customers, are they on Linkedin? TikTok? Or are they even within the networks you operate in – i.e. your local community, or your gym if you’re a personal trainer? What is the quickest and easiest way to get to them – identify this, and you’re on a roll.
