We recently partnered with The Baytree Centre (Lambeth), where we hosted our very first Women in Enterprise event! In case you aren’t familiar with the Baytree Centre please read on to get an idea of the amazing and valuable work that they do.
The Baytree Centre is a Lambeth-based social inclusion charity that serves the community through a range of empowering and educational programmes. Their primary focus is on supporting women and girls who face socio-economic challenges, with the ultimate goal of promoting equality, education, and growth.
The Baytree Centre is passionate about helping women and girls build soft skills and character education that can prepare them for a successful future. That is why they have adapted the Social Mobility Programme, a neuroscience-based coaching approach that empowers women to unlock their full potential and take control of their lives.
This comprehensive programme is tailored to each individual’s unique needs, with a focus on achieving long-term goals. From education and wellbeing to family stability, financial management, and employability, their professional Coaches support the women in user-led, one-to-one partnerships in all areas necessary to help women thrive.
With over 30 years of experience in responding to the diverse and changing needs of the community, The Baytree Centre understands that literacy is a key factor in achieving success and aims to break down any barriers that stand in the way. By providing vital education and literacy support, Baytree equips women with the tools they need to access further training, employment, and community resources.
It is also important to acknowledge that trauma and violence are often intertwined with low literacy and poor social networks, and that addressing literacy can have positive ripple effects in other areas of these women’s lives.
Baytree’s Youth service is a fantastic example of a comprehensive and holistic approach to supporting the educational and social needs of girls in marginalised communities. The Centre provides creative activities, mentoring to develop the confidence, motivation, and career aspirations of the girls they serve.
The Baytree Centre’s strategy is a model for communities everywhere. It takes a comprehensive and holistic approach to level the playing field and empower women, children, and communities.
